Does Walking Make Us Smarter?

A study from 2016 supported the argument that walking can contribute to a positive mood boost. When experimenting with hundreds of people, researchers found that walking for just 12 minutes increased energy, inspiration, and self-confidence of the subjects versus the same amount of time being sedentary.

With gyms currently closed and many of us performing our jobs from home, walking has become a popular workout of choice. Maybe, along with the other psychological benefits, walking makes us smarter because we realize we don’t NEED a gym membership to stay fit. We don’t NEED a race date to motivate us to train. We don’t NEED specialized sports equipment or a training plan devised by a coach.

Is the pandemic teaching us the difference between what we need and what we want? Maybe that’s how we get a little smarter.
